Choosing a scent for each room

A few rules we keep coming back to. Kitchens want green and citrus notes; they cut through cooking smells instead of competing with them. Bedrooms like something soft and woody. Bathrooms suit clean, mineral scents, which is why After Rain lives on our own shelf there.

Living rooms are the flexible ones. If the room is big, pick a stronger scent such as Cedar & Smoke. If it is small, a lighter candle like Paper Birch is plenty.

Finally, trim the wick to about five millimetres before every burn and let the wax pool reach the edge of the jar the first time. It will make the candle last noticeably longer.
